Aluminum is the most abundant element in the earth’s crust after oxygen and silicon. Because of its chemical re activity, aluminum is never found in nature as an element but always in its oxidized form. Other important compounds in the crust, include the hydroxides, a group which includes bauxite, the base raw material for primary aluminum production.

The range of forms it can take (castings, extrusions & tubes, sheet & plate, foil, powder, forgings etc.) and a variety of surface finishes available (coating, anodizing, polishing etc.) means it lends itself to a wide range of products, many of which we use every day of our lives.
